A Spiritual Mindset Maintains Joy
Let us not put confidence in the flesh and the things of this world. Be transformed by the world not conformed to the world. Paul talks about pressing on towards the goal to win the prize. What prize? Is it the prize of materialism while conforming to the ways of a sin filled world? Of course not! As we focus on maintaining humility and being single minded for Christ, we will not put the prize of doing the work of Christ before acquiring earthly treasures.
Matthew 6:19 Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is your heart will be also.
As we go through life most of us fall into the desire to acquire things of this world. Pretty soon those things consume us as we store up treasures on earth. We end up working and paying off the financial debt we are in because we have conformed to the world along with the things of the world. Even we Christians fall into this trap.
I am not saying it is wrong to have things, however putting those things into perspective according to our ability to truly being able to afford those things without the things of this world taking our focus off of furthering the gospel of Christ steals our JOY. Truly things take our eyes off of eternal rewards will lead us into discontent.
So let us not put our confidence in the things of this world but instead store up treasures in heaven. After all that is where we will spend eternity. Life on earth is truly but a vapor, an extremely small portion of our existence.
Maintain your JOY by humbly staying focused on having a transformed spiritual mindset.
